What counts as an event?
Any record written to a Basalt source: a Kafka message, a CDC row change, a webhook body or an SDK call. Retries that Basalt deduplicates are not billed twice.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrades apply immediately and are prorated to the day. Downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period, and your data and views stay in place.
What happens if I go over my included events?
On Scale you pay $0.18 per extra million events, billed monthly. On Hobby, ingest pauses at 10M and resumes on the first of the month. We email you at 80% and 100%.
Do you offer discounts for startups or open source?
Startups under $5M raised get Scale free for 12 months. Open-source projects with a public repository get Scale free for as long as they stay open source.
Where is my data stored?
In the regions you choose. Scale lets you pick three of our 38 regions; Enterprise adds private regions and bring-your-own-cloud deployments in your AWS, GCP or Azure account.
Is there a free trial of Scale?
Every Scale workspace starts with a 14-day trial with no card required. If you do not upgrade, it moves to Hobby and keeps your first three views.
